Sister Rockstars!

There are days when rockin' is very necessary! You know those days when you have already, fussed, prayed, cried, laughed, and hummed. After all of that there's nothing else left to do but ROCK!!!! Sometimes I just get in my car and I blast my favorite song to rock to, which is Penitentiary Philosophy by Erykah Badu

Penitentiary Philosophy "Live" - Erykah Badu

I love Sisters who rock! They provide a true and real example of how creativity adds to the Universe. Here are some of my favs.

Of course there is none other than Tina Turner! she has been rockin' since 1960, YES!!!! She is still rocking today.

.

Here is Janis Joplin, of course she has transitioned on from this body back in 1970, but this sister rocked the world for the short time that she was here.

Here is a Sister I just love Leela James She is pretty new on the scene but she is a true rocker. She rocks the blues! This is one of my favorite songs of hers.

I've been loving Bonnie Raitt since I was about 18 or 19 years old. She rocks Country! She is seasoned and real. I was about to put up "Something to Talk about," one of my favorite songs of hers, but I found
this!

I love Nikka Costa! She is a funky chick. This her most popular rockin' song.

My absolute favorite rockin's show was this! If you don't look at any of the other videos you have to see this! I came to tears the night I saw this performance. Melissa rocked this poor baby right off the stage, although the child was still standing right there the whole time.

Inspiration From Around the World

As a Jewelry Designer I am constantly looking for inspiration. Of course, you all know that I am constantly searching through celebrity fashion. I also search all over the world, and all throughout history to provide me with ideas. The journey can be endless because there so much beauty in the world. Here are a few pieces that have touched me in such as way that it feels like a spiritual awakening.

This style of necklace is from India. It's called Lakh, a few years back you could see many stars such as Beyonce and Tyra Banks wearing Chandelier earrings in this style.

These are earrings are from Ancient Rome.

These are Egyptian Necklaces.

These necklaces and Charms are of European Decent. They are Celtic.

This is another style of Jewelry from India called Kundan.

My daughter is actually the namesake for this people from Kenya. I love Masai Jewelry and culture.

Here is American Indian jewelry. Pieces from this culture are beautiful, their great American Indian Artisans in New Mexico. I used to visit there often on business and I picked a few pieces back then.

These pieces are from Ancient Greece, such strong and pronounced style.

This is a stunning piece from West Africa, the part of the world where most African Americans came to America from.

I hope you have felt the as inspired as I have by these pieces! If you have, go and create!

Don't forget to enter my giveaway, it ends October 31st.

The Full Moon Shining

I am NOT pregnant and please don't wish a baby on me, right now I am enjoying the fullness of my life with my two wonderful, talented and brilliant daughters. However, my fellow blogger over at Ebony Mommy has recently announced that she and hubby are expecting another bundle of joy. Something about October has always reminded me of pregnancies. Maybe it's because I've been pregnant twice in October. Here's an image of me pregnant with my first child.

Here are some celebs during their pregnancies.

Who can forget this eye-popping image of Demi Moore from the early nineties. This shot has been duplicated by others such as Nicole Kidman and Britany Spears who certainly will not be allowed to show up here, since she revels in the pregnancies while shirking the mommy duties

Here is Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen during happier times ( yes, they were happy once--here is proof)

This is Iman with her first husband, Spencer Haywood, and first child.

This was the equivalent of the Demi Moore showing her belly back in 1952 when Lucille Ball showed herself to be "expecting", a term insisted upon by CBS, on I Love Lucy. This pregnancy produced huge ratings for the show.

Now this next image goes into the WTF category... I love Catherine Zeta-Jones, however I was pretty saddened when I found this image. I know she's European and they have an "it's all okey dokey" policy concerning drinking during pregnancy, but I think they are fully aware of the dangers of smoking during pregnancy...so boo hiss on her for this.

Eartha Kitt...Grrrl!

I heard Tom Joyner on the radio about a week or so ago talking about Eartha Kitt, and he kept making reference to her role in Boomerang with Eddie Murphy. I kept screaming at the radio " No Tom, she's known for more than that, why do you keeping saying Boomerang" She is such a spectacular woman.
Eartha began her career in the 50's as a singer and actress. She is a singer with a voice that growls, she was the first Black woman to play Cat woman , and she was also Helen of Troy in an Orson Welles movie.

Ms. Kitt was blackballed in the USA in the 60's because spoke out against the Viet Nam war. She then began to work in Europe in the 1970's. Eartha Kitt is an American Dream. She was actually born on a plantation, and she was abused by her family. However, she still fulfilled her destiny of becoming an American Icon.

Today she is still working at the age of 81 years old.

While catching a glimpse of me posting, my children informed me of two important roles that Earth Kitt has played in movies they love.

She is Yzma onThe Emperor's New School

And she played Madame Zeroni in Holes.

I am so happy that this woman who my mother adored as a young person, I admired as a little girl, and my children enjoy today has had such a prosperous career that had spanned several generations.

Here are a few of her performances.
