This is the end of the Libra season, so it's time for their tribute. I love Libra ladies. They are so intriguing and fun to be around. They are loving and charming. They can be the most well-balanced, wise, and sagacious people around. In contrast, if the scales tip in the lives of these ladies they can be the most-tunneled vision and irrational individuals that I've ever seen walk this earth. Once they start walking to the beat of their own drum, there is no stopping them! Believe me I've tried. They are very imaginative some would say they tell whoppers . I Love this about them too!
One thing you definitely don't want is for a Libra woman to get a hold of your man because you may never get him back. Men that love Libra women, love them and love them, and love them some more. They can't get rid of these men. I don't know what they do, but they make men fall deeply in love. My two favorite Libras in the whole wide world are my close friends Kim and Shuntay. Here is Shuntay's 40th Birthday celebration (Shuntay is wearing the sexy attire) and Kim somewhere out in the world doing her thing. I also have a new Libra in my life, my sister-in-law. I've only met her twice, but can tell she'll be one of those ladies I'll want to hang close with if we're ever in the same city for longer than 24 hours.

Here are some image of famous Libras.
This is Miro Sorvino.
Here is Christina Milian.
This is Brigitte Bardot, she I think is living in a constant state of imbalance. She has been arrested 5 times for inciting racial hatred. We may all remember her as a knock out actress and model, but she is making herself known for being homophobic and a bigot. This is a clear example of walking to the beat of one's own drum -- in a really bad way!!!
Here is Rita Hayworth, a classic beauty. I love old Hollywood, so you'll see me reference it quite often here.
Here is Ashlee Simpson, she told quite a whopper when she said she wasn't pregnant when she got married, and about a week or so later had to it admit it. Why, why, why tell a lie you can get caught in.
Here is John Travolta's wife, Kelly Preston. She is one of those Libra's that can make her man stay deeply in love. She and Travolta have been married for about 17 years. And despite Oprah's repeated attempts to pry the man from Kelly's grasp they are very happy-- I think. I don't know them personally, and even then I still wouldn't know.
Finally here is Kate Winslet. She is a woman confident and wise enough to tell the film industry that she will still work and be incredibly alluring even if she isn't the size of one of the Olson twins.

Homage to my Libra Ladies
This blog is down for the people!
My bloggy buddy and excellent writer, Denene , over at My Brown Baby knighted me, medaled me, queened me, crowned me honored me with a wonderful award. I am very, very appreciative since she is such an esteemed writer and blogger. You have to go over and read her article about Black love and marriage at the The Root . It has sparked quite a lot of discussion and even a little debate (I don't know why we are just trying to love each other).
Thanks so much Denene, I really do feel very honored and humbled by this award. For those of you who are wondering what the words mean, I looked it up. It's written in Portuguese. Here's what it means... "This Blog invests and believes in the Neighborhood." Now, if there is some colloquialism that I am not aware of, I would love for someone to fill me in. For now I am going to translate the meaning into "This blog is down for the people."
So in the spirit of being "...down for the people," I am now going to award bloggers who I think embody the saying.

Windows to the Soul
Eyes. We use them for seeing things in our world. My bloggy girlfriend and I over at Tea n Honey Bread use our eyes in a common way. We use them to watch people, their actions, their reactions, their emotions, and the meaning behind their words. Eyes really are the windows to the soul. I have vivid memories of joyful eyes that show limitless elation. I can even remember looking into the eyes of famous celebrities photographed for magazines after they have had a recent announcement of some sad news like divorce or some kind of loss and being able to see the deep sadness underneath their plastered smile and makeup. Eyes don't lie.
Here's a little game we'll play today. It's called name those eyes. I'll give you a hint, and you try to get them right. Don't worry I'll post the answers at the end.
Her character said these words in this movie back in 1993. "Except my name. I'll give up all that other stuff, but only if I get to keep my name. I've worked to hard for it, your honor."

She has played a good wife opposite Jamie Fox, and a cheating lesbian fiancee in one of Spike Lee's Movies.
She is marrying her drummer who I honestly thought was her gay hairdresser when I saw them together in Atlanta , after divorcing the man we all thought still think was her one true love.
She used a bat to bust out windows the of his car before Jazmine Sullivan .
She can smoke ten tons of crack, and come back to look like an innocent beautiful princess..jpg)
She has moved on from that sexual addict and had a bundle of joy with the finest white man I have ever seen in my life.
She doesn't like wire hangers, and you don't want to know what she'll do if you put her clothes on one. Hint: This is not Faye Dunaway!
She "greases her hair and it still won't grow" (non-African Americans please ask your Black friend about this) and she "breaks up with him before her dumps her."
She takes a tweezer to her eyes whenever she gets two cents to give a doctor for the surgery. I think she has her daughter doing it too!
Young men, old men, rich men especially Berry Gordy , poor men, melt if she bats her lashes at them.

Some people think her name is Tiffany because of the movie she played in.
She got married on April 4th some say to a rich Joe Camel , and then wouldn't even show future brides her gown so that they could copy.
I heard some lady whose husband she stole screaming and laughing "karma! karma!" when she didn't get any of her father's inheritance.
She's on the D List. I wonder why?
Thanks for playing along. Remember it's all in fun...

It's a Good Day!
I went to the salon today to get my normal itsy bitsy trim because I am in a perpetual state of growing my hair out. My great friend and stylist for 14 or 15 years Ro'Dah saw my hair pulled up into a banana clip and said "why don't you just do a Mohawk again." I didn't want to do what I had already done about 3 or 4 years ago, but I suddenly got the courage to get that asymmetric cut I've been musing about. SO......
HERE IT IS!
I feel great!
I feel youthful!
I feel like it's 1988 again!
I feel like me!

15 Years on the 15th of October!

Today is my wedding Anniversary. My husband and I married at a courthouse in Baltimore, Maryland 15 years ago. I wore a red dress. We weren't from Baltimore, we wanted to get married in Maryland because it was an easy place to elope. We were going to marry in the D.C. Area, but I had to use the bathroom on the way to get the license a week before the day we married. We exited in Baltimore to use the bathroom and settled on that city for our nuptials.
We've had our ups, down, highs and lows, and in the words of Monica We are still standing.
In honor of marriages everywhere and in celebration of mine, today's post is all about wedding rings.

I love this set for the techie nerds. I love, love, love symbols of nerdom because I love nerds.
These are elegant an usual. Who wants to wear something that you see everyday. Well I guess a bunch of people do, but I am not one of them.

This is great for a person who swears they are not cut out for marriage. A square ring to go around their round finger, see it still fits:)
This set felt a little pornographic to me, but maybe I have a dirty mind. Fun, fun, fun!
Cultural bands, African and Celtic.

Finally, here are our rings. Over the years we have changed rings out. Sometimes we buy cheap cute rings and wear them for a a year or so. Our first rings were simple gold bands. These however, have special significance. My husband bought my band on my birthday before our 10th anniversary. He came to my office and made me take the day off, so we could look for a diamond. The first one he had ever bought me ( we were broke when we got married). His ring I designed but had crafted by a jewelry designer I admire. That was about three or four Valentine's Days ago. So many years bring so many memories, I am glad to share just a few with you.

Warding Off Evil Spirits!
Turquoise is a stone used to ward off evil spirits and to find spiritual peace. I remember I worked a job that was totally hellacious for me and I wore turquoise everyday to ward off crazy mofos negative energy. Although I don't wear it regularly as I did back then, I still have a strong love for turquoise.
Who among us wouldn't want to find our inner spiritual balance clicking across the floor in these.
As I am posting, I am realizing I probably need to start wearing my turquoise more regularly to ward off debate, bail out rescue, recession, depression, pundit, bill collector auto dial of course, they aren't calling me, they are only calling you , Bushit, Bristol's baby, and angry N*word rants on blogs, radio, and T.V. WTH! What's really going on!

Anyway, please don't get caught up in my rant. Just focus on the beautiful turquoise.
Here is some intriguing Yellow Turquoise. Are you feeling the wave of peace coming across you. I am.

(whisper) Have a nice day and go in peace.

(Softer whisper)

I've been tagged...7 things about me!
I was just about to put up a new post about another subject, when I got a comment from my bloggy friend Ms. Bar B. over at A Place of Comfort. She informed me of my tagged status. So here is goes, 7 things about me.
1) Today was my first day of homeschooling my two girls 7 & 11. Since I made the decision, I've been totally scared Sh*tless about the whole thing. However the first day went extremely well. My youngest is finishing up spelling right now and the oldest is practicing piano. We covered, math, science, geography, journaling, and spelling. Not bad for a first day.
2) I have a Master's level degree in Counseling. I haven't gotten licensed because after my internship which consisted of me offering individual depression counseling, group drug abuse counseling, geriatric counseling, and acute mental health care, I decided research was the course for me. I'm in Advertising now, and I won't go into how I got there right now. I'll save that for another MeMe.
3) I make bath and body products too! Yep, soaps, scrubs (which my customers love), bath salts, oils (only for my family), bath teas. I don't sell them on etsy although I think they would sell. I only sell them at shows.
4) I've written a book. As soon as I get the money it's gonna be self-published by me ( I guess that's what they mean by self-publish) I'm gonna launch the website that helps with principles of the book too. The book is about getting into and staying in a loving and lasting relationship. BTW- my 15th wedding anniversary is Wednesday.
5) I thought about pouring a glass of wine a few times today, just because I'm home. I had to stop myself because I don't think I should be drinking wine and homeschooling:(
6) I made $10.00 at a show last night. NO! I didn't leave a zero out. I made ten dollars! The event I went to had one table seated. Signs of the times I guess. Guess what I feel really blessed to have made that. The bartender bought a bag of bath salts and the organizer bought a $5.00 pair of earrings. I went to the grocery store and spent that before I got home, so in my estimation I came out ahead.
7) I was allergic to shellfish twenty years ago and have discovered that I ain't no mo'. Don't know why, but I can eat shrimp, crabs, clams, mussels, scallops, and I am a-okay! Go figure! My sister is allergic too, but she's too chicken to give it a try today.
That was really hard. Very hard. I guess I have to tag others now. The following folks are tagged.
Kiss My Black Ads
Creative Shades of Red
Breathing Light
Ebony Mommy
Gurly Things
Neo Sew Mama
From a Yellow House
