Happy Thanksgiving

I'm at the beach, triking in ocean, swimming in the pool, relaxing in the jacuzzi, detoxifying in the sauna, now I'm about to go eat with the family. Enjoy your day!

Beverly Johnson

Before Naomi Campbell bashed her first assistant, before Tyra Banks donned her first lace front, before Roshumba graced us with her natural, and before models like Veronica Webb, Rihanna , and Iman (yes, even Iman), we had Beverly Johnson. She was the first African American Supermodel to grace American Vogue Magazine. Her work paved the way for other African American models. She has appeared in many movies such as "Ashanti," "Meteor Man," "How to be a Player," and she has also been on many T.V. shows. As of late, she has served as a celebrity judge on "She's Got the Look."

After modeling, Beverly too went into business and became a big success. Beverly has a wig line, and you would be hard pressed to go into a beauty supply shop today without finding her modeling one of her creations on a wig tag, shelf display or poster.

Her stunning looks are admired worldwide, and her elegance is unsurpassed.

Aaaaah, They Phoned it in!

I stumbled upon the American Music Awards last night, and it was really boooring. The only part I felt remotely entertained by was the Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah, Kathleen Battle performance.

I liked these earrings Alicia had on, I'm putting them on my list of styles to try.

Even Beyonce phoned it in, and she never does that.

She did her Singles Ladies routine and I got up and tried to imitate it , but not a bit more. I'm trying to get as good as this guy.

I think artists are kind whatever about the AMA's these days. One of the number one artist's was Taylor Swift and let me tell you, she is extremely untalented. She came out sat on a bench and sang a song in a lifeless manner. I was horrified and embarrassed for her.

Look at this "I'm the ish look on her face." I sure hope that look is about her look or her dress because it sure's hell shouldn't be about that singing.

I was also embarrassed for Rihanna. She did her normal "I can't sing and I can't dance, but isn't I wondermous rountine."

I think she might think she can sing, but then again I'll bet she knows she's not very good at all or else she would not need this eye-patch to try and trick us. It was crazy she's like a dressed up screeching model. Very boring, clothing can get you to a certain point, but then the curtain drops. When her fan based starts to have children, she is so screwed because they won't be able to take that screeching from their children and her to.

I'm sorry if I seem a little salty, but I wasted valuable hours I can't get back. This ish was ridiculous. Maybe I'm just getting too old for nonsense.

Celebrity Separated at Birth???

This doesn't happen so much anymore, but it did occur the other day. It happens like this. I'm going about my merry way buying pizza, posting up at a craft show or Spoken word night waiting to sell my jewelry, waiting to get a table at a popular restaurant spot, visiting a cousin in another city, or some other ordinary day in the life of a jewelry rockstar. Someone from out of nowhere comes up and says "she looks like Jill Scott" or sometimes it's "hey Jilly from Philly" sometimes I even get obvious blushing from men who love Jill Scott, and feel like they have just met her. No it's not blushing from my own beauty, it's definitely from Jill's influence. I've been getting noticed by men since I was 13 years old, so I know the difference. I've been getting the "Aww shucks it's Jill Scott" bashfulness since I've made it to 160 lbs. and above on the scales. I mean from 2006 -2007, I heard it everyday and sometimes twice a day. Once I saw Yung Joc, the rapper on the streets and I said "look kids it's that rapper Yung Joc" and he said in return "look it's Jill Scott."

Whenever I start coming down a bit on my weight, which I have been lately, I don't hear the comparisons so much. However the other day I heard it. No disrespect to Jill, whom I love, love, love, but when I start to hear the "it's Jill Scott" jive I get a little concerned about my weight. Like I said I love Jill Scott and I really admire her, but I get a little annoyed when people say we look alike. I don't know if it's because she's bigger than me and I start to feel self-conscious about my weight or if it's that I just want my own identity. It certainly isn't because she isn't beautiful because she is, and she exudes a great energy.

I actually saw her in Atlanta this past summer, I waltzed right up to her, tapped her on the shoulder and said "I am sick of folks saying we look alike." She said, "You better tell them to stop." and laughed. Somehow I wasn't satisfied with her response. I Felt like I needed to deliver all the praise, compliments, and winks that belonged to her in a package to her. I guess I felt like if I could give those to her, I could go back to getting my own praise, compliments, and winks.

Here are some picks of me in 2006 - 2007 and some of Jill too! You tell me what you think, I promise not to get annoyed.

Ladies Don't Use Your Mind

Just let your eyes rest here. Don't think about your man right now because there is no harm in looking. Don't think about the kids because they certainly have nothing to do with this. Just let your eyes rest here for a minute. Only a minute, not too long and don't try hanging around here either cause I'll know .

Let your eyes rest here for a minute. Just absorb the beauty.

Just think eye candy.

Just think sexy.

Just enjoy this dark chocolate.

Just enjoy the view.

Just enjoy this moment.

Enjoy the swagger!

Enjoy the beauty!

This is for free!

Yes, enjoy it ladies.

I know you may have had thoughts of itty-bitty wives, beautiful baby mamas, stunning high school sweetheart wives, sex addiction, how you could take this further than just looking, age differences, bloated arrest pictures, over-priced concert tickets, but you weren't supposed to do that. You were supposed to just enjoy the beauty for a brief moment.

Topaz

As many of you already know my husband and I make our money being entrepreneurs. Not just as entrepreneurs, but as those whose family income is made largely by creative efforts. My husband's creativity (Advertising & Graphic design) makes the big bucks for us, and my creativity (Jewelry Design) makes the little bucks for us. That is not to say that I don't share the load in bringing in the bucks because I do as the manager of our Advertising Agency.

In any case, choosing to make your living by being creative in today's economy is a decision that requires constant reinforcement. Topaz, November's birthstone is a stone that helps with this. The spiritual properties of Topaz help you to deal with being scared shitless uncertainty. It seems that every week we have to fight off the urge to put our resumes out there. Topaz replaces negativity with joy and love. We definitely need that because going to the mailbox or hearing the phone ring these days can be very negative. Remedy, rub, rub, rub the topaz, and put on a happy face. Topaz is great for visualizing and meditating. Visualizing prosperous days and meditating for a sense of peace is important. Despite what my bank account says, I still feel and know that I am blessed and prosperous, thanks Topaz (and above all else Thanks God!)
Lastly, Topaz stimulates creativity. Now is certainly the time to generate more and more creativity, if we want to remain in a creative business. To all my folk out there who have decided to make their money by being creative, grab some Topaz and keep keeping on.

This is one I created. The Topaz pendant is vintage, I don't remember where I found it. I often find vintage pieces an repurpose them.

Scorpio Goddess Tribute!

It's the time of year to give a nod of approval to Scorpio Women. These powerful, brilliant, intense women are something to behold. These creatures can shock anyone (even someone whom they've known a long time) with their emotional fury. Why? Because they play it real cool and controlled most of the time. They are smart, logical and magnetic on the outside, but on the inside they are calculating, passionate, and possessive. You don't want to step in their path because they become like one of those missiles that follows you everywhere until it hits the target! These chicks are serious and they are seductress. I read somewhere that they are the most likely of all the zodiac signs to be geniuses. Real IQ geniuses, not just "good at what I do" geniuses.

My favorite Scorpio is my daughter, Aja.

She is a talented singer and most of her intensity shows up in her music. She turned 12 on last Thursday.

I have a bloggy friend who is also a Scorpio Fly Tie. I haven't met her in person, but I can feel the intensity lift off the page when I view her modeling her fashion designs. The eyes make me know she is a true Scorpio. Go check her out, you'll see what I mean.

Here are my famous Scorpio ladies. Now tell me you can't feel the sexy, strong, fierce, intensity from these images.
