The Afro

It's a such a beautiful hair style and a bold expression of self all wrapped into one. Bold, beautiful, eye-catching jewelry are great compliments to wearing an afro, but as you see in these pics an afro is an accessory all on its own.

This is an image of Bibi McGill, Beyonce's Guitar player. Here's how she says she takes care of her afro

This is Naomi Campbell rocking a 'fro, which is quite different for her since she usually wears long straight locks. The necklaces here are stunning and really do set the Afro off.

Here is Beyonce's Afro from early 2000. As you can see any larger bold earring works well especially when you pull back the "fro.

This a model, Nazri who was on project runway a few seasons back. Her 'fro is awesome and it looks great with her face.

These images are ofNdambi. She was a back up vocalist for Erykah Badu, but is now a solo artist.

I am loving my Polymer work so much...

that I am selling my beads on etsy. If I can't sell my beaded jewelry, I'll bet I can sell the beads as supplies. After all, most of the people who hang out there are handmade crafters, artists and designers. Here's my latest polymer creations. I am really doing the eighties thing, since that decade is back.

I'm not a crafter, I'm a designer

I've been asking myself over and over again, why I am not able to sell anything on etsy.com, the number one crafter marketplace online. I suddenly realized that I am not a crafter. I am a designer. I've always been a designer. I started with fashion design. I designed my prom dress back in 1988.

When I left fashion design I didn't leave design. I found it again back in 2002. I started with jewelry, a passion that I had even back in high school, but never dreamed I could do. I am a designer! I have the edge of a designer, I have the sass of a designer, and I seek to provide usability through my designs, like other designers. I finally understand, and I am extremely okay with not selling anything on etsy. It's not my market. It's a crafter's market. I'll stay there because it's an inexpensive online presence, but I'm okay if I don't sell there. I'll keep working the outdoor markets, festivals, and the neo-soul & poetry shows, my people are there. One day soon, I'll have a studio and I'll sell to the celebs, divas, and style mavens of the world. Haaa! Just Breathe!

Solange Knowles, she's zigging!

I know this blog is about being a Jewelry Rock star, but today I want to change focus a little bit from jewelry to a music rock star, Solange Knowles. I know some of you might not want to call her a star, but she definitely is. I've been keeping my eye on her lately. She has made a very creative album, and I love, love, love that I Decided music video. It's a zig in this zaggy world.

Here are some pics of her. I like her style, I've noticed that she uses clothing as her bling, and not necessarily jewelry and accessories

Now of course, Solange has a sassy flippant in your face side that people like to focus on. As seen in the recent run in with Fox News ( Like who doesn't have a run in with those Jerks) Plus everyone likes to point out that she's the anti-beyonce. As much as I love Beyonce, and I really, really do. I also have a growing respect for Solange. I like that she set the record straight on Fox too!

Sit down, Sit down, I know she was teenage bride and mother, but hey if Brit's sister and Sarah Palin's daughter are getting passes, Solange gets one too.

I wanted to do this post today to celebrate a girl who is fighting hard to be creative in her own right, and I'll bet a lot of us can relate to that. I certainly can You go Solo!

She's actually been my hero before last night, but since lots of people are talking about her today. I thought it would be nice to show her style.
