Topaz

As many of you already know my husband and I make our money being entrepreneurs. Not just as entrepreneurs, but as those whose family income is made largely by creative efforts. My husband's creativity (Advertising & Graphic design) makes the big bucks for us, and my creativity (Jewelry Design) makes the little bucks for us. That is not to say that I don't share the load in bringing in the bucks because I do as the manager of our Advertising Agency.

In any case, choosing to make your living by being creative in today's economy is a decision that requires constant reinforcement. Topaz, November's birthstone is a stone that helps with this. The spiritual properties of Topaz help you to deal with being scared shitless uncertainty. It seems that every week we have to fight off the urge to put our resumes out there. Topaz replaces negativity with joy and love. We definitely need that because going to the mailbox or hearing the phone ring these days can be very negative. Remedy, rub, rub, rub the topaz, and put on a happy face. Topaz is great for visualizing and meditating. Visualizing prosperous days and meditating for a sense of peace is important. Despite what my bank account says, I still feel and know that I am blessed and prosperous, thanks Topaz (and above all else Thanks God!)
Lastly, Topaz stimulates creativity. Now is certainly the time to generate more and more creativity, if we want to remain in a creative business. To all my folk out there who have decided to make their money by being creative, grab some Topaz and keep keeping on.

This is one I created. The Topaz pendant is vintage, I don't remember where I found it. I often find vintage pieces an repurpose them.

What a beautiful piece. Repurposing is not only cost-conscious, but ecologically conscious. There is no better way to keep order in the universe (and the family budget) than using only what we need.

Joe and I are entrepreneurs as well, and while it does require a resolve, and entail a level of uncertainty that isn't always easy-I'd sooner work hard for happiness than money.

Thanks for sharing this, it was well timed.

Hey there!

I'm kinda dropping by randomly (& kinda dropping by to hit you with my EC) to tell you about this new selling site I found. It's called ArtFire.com & you should check it out.

It's still really, really new (still in beta) but it's heading in a really good direction! They are already buying advertising online & in print magazines to bring in traffic to the site. (It's already got almost as much traffic as indiepublic.com)

It's got stats for shop views so you know where your customers are coming from! I know! Gasp! Faint! Right? hehe

& it's just $7 a month (for the first 5000 artists) to list & sell as much as you can FOREVER. $7 a month no matter what! I signed up on that alone! haha

Anyhoo, it is new so there aren't zillions of people using it (which is good & bad) but I thought you might want to take a look at it. With the ad campaign they are working on kicking in soon (or so they are saying), I think it's going to be a good place to start listing!

If you sign up, give me a yell & let me know what you think!

Always,
Amy

P.S. I love your Etsy shop! Beautiful, beautiful work!

I need some inner peace. I have had so much inner turmoil lately and it is manifesting itself in my outward appearance. Perhaps I need some topaz in my life.

i can so relate. this post has given me inspiration, though. just gotta keep grinding. and when i did break down and started circulating my resume, there were no viable responses. that was my cue that what i'm doing is what i *need* to be doing.

it gets rough, but we all keep on pushing.

topaz is my birthstone and i don't even own a piece. i shall by tomorrow. thanks for a wonderful post.
